Spectacular Mexico

Our second vacation together, and the most thrilling!

This vacation was planned by the budget. We were looking to spend around $700 each when we started looking and ended up doing just about that. For four days and three nights we indulged in an all inclusive package at a wonderful beachfront resort, Catalonia Riviera Maya. We found the right resort for our vacation at CheapCaribbean.com

Great spot!

We took connecting flights that left Newark and stopped in Mexico City before making it to Riviera Maya. Our experiences with layovers weren’t the best and if we go back to Mexico we will try to avoid traveling that way. Once we arrived at the airport in Cancun, we took a 16 passenger van to our resort about an hour away. There are so many different kinds of resorts, I’d love to go back to see more.

Our resort was beautiful, you pull up to a gorgeous fountain and staircase. The front desk was very helpful at checkin and with questions throughout our stay. We were there on a lovely couples getaway but the resort is suited well for families too. There are different pools everywhere, some for kids some with swim up bars. We thoroughly enjoyed the swim up bars!

Nearby there are snack stand which feature crepes, a perfect light snack. The all inclusive restaurant had a wide array of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The stations included local cuisine and others more familiar options. We love to try all the new dishes!

Beaches

Being right on the beach was amazing as well. There are oversized games, volleyball and massages available on the beach. There is also a beach bar which is perfect for a relaxing day of toes in the sand and a nice frozen drink.

Our favorite part of the trip was the excursion with Alltournative. We visited the Jungle Maya Park, where were able to participate in a traditional Mayan purification ceremony, hike through colorful jungles with beautiful animals and butterflies, zipline through canopies, rappel into cenotes and snorkel through the clearest underground water. It was truly amazing, we would do it over and over again and recommend to all! We booked this amazing experience through Tripadvisor.

We would describe this as the perfect resort for a few reasons. We enjoyed all the amenities, the sister resort we were able to roam next door and the spa! We spent an enchanting afternoon in the spa, while everyone was out in the sun. The spa was very comfortable, clean and empty! We laid around in the pools, went back and forth between the vapor room and sauna and snacked no the assortment of trail mix, fruits and flavored waters. The spa was worth a few hours of your time. The massages were also very good, they had a nice selection of different options.

At night we had some fun options like the nightclub and the game room. We enjoyed the game room for its bar and pool tables. We did have to wait for a game to finish once or twice but there are TVs were a welcome distraction. There are also fun events planed at the bar right outside the theatre. We were entertained by some of the hotel staff who danced and had volunteers join in on the action. Nearby there are some couches and a smoke shop. You can enjoy everything up close at the bar or hang back on the couches. Although we did not attend any of the shows at the theatre, they had many options for different age groups.

Overall we really liked the love themed resort. There were evenings where vendors would setup and sell handmade items. All the jewelry, trinkets and souvenirs to take home were exquisite. I wish they were there every night! The staff was very kind, the resort was great. We liked our room with the balcony, the iguanas and cute little animals, and the hammocks near the beach. We would definitely make a second trip and would recommend this resort to all!
